An Ode to Love

If you know who I am, then you know who I was.                                                
If you know who I was, then you know what I’ve done.                                            
If you know what I’ve done, then you shouldn’t be standing here.

If you shouldn’t be standing here, then you should be standing somewhere else.          
If you should be standing somewhere else, then you should be far from me.                        
If you should be far from me, then you’ve reached safety.

If you’ve reached safety, then you’ve never met me.                                               
If you’ve never met me, then the path you’ve taken is the correct one.                         
If you’ve taken the correct path, then you’re on the road to a brighter future.

If you’re on the road to a brighter future, then you’re on the path of progression.       
If you’re on the path of progression, then you’re going to be alright.                                    
If you’re going to be alright, then we never have been.

If we’ve never have been, then we didn’t take fate into our own hands                            
If we’ve never took fate into our own hands, then we aren’t human.                                   

If we’ve never been human, then we’re machines.

If we’re machines, then we’re programmed to follow procedures.                                    
If we’re programmed to follow procedures, then we’re not questioning.                              
If we’re not questioning, then there is no point.

If there is no point, then there is no existence.                                                        
If there is no existence, then there is no chance for things like love or reality.                     
If there is no chance for things like love or reality, than it’s impossible for life.

If it’s impossible for life, then it’s impossible for a future.                                               
If it’s impossible for a future, then in it’s impossible for you and me.                             
If it’s impossible for you and me, then I do not want to be.

If I do not want to be, it’s because you are not with me.

If you are not with me, then there is no point to me.

If there is no point to me, then I shall never be.

Yet, it is here that I decree, that this is not what should be.

For truth be that when I see you.                                                                           
For truth be that when I am near you.                                                                    
For truth be that when I am with you.

I no longer need questions.                                                                                              
I no longer need order.                                                                                          
I no longer need structure.

Because, despite what I am.                                                                           
Because, despite what I was.                                                                         
Because, despite what I’ve done.

When we’re together, there is nothing that matters.                                                
When we’re together, we will not be torn apart.                                                       
When we’re together, heart and heart.

There is nothing stopping me from saying how much I need you.

Because simply put.

I loved you then.

and I love you now.

and without you, there is no point to who I am.
