Eternity

Eternity is the tree upon the hill which has been there for years, long before I was born and longer before anyone was ever here.
It sits upon it’s perch watching us all, occasionally waving as the wind comes to call.
It watches us dance, it watches us play, it watches us wish for something new today.
It was there when we first fell in love, and there when we walked away from it all.
All it ever does is stand there, proud and tall, waiting for its leaves to fall.
Some have climbed it to the top while others watch it, simply waiting for the day that it will fall.
Through the rise of our town, to the flames that knocked it down, it still stands there reminding us of what we have done, who we have become.
From the small shacks of our grandfathers to the great towers of our grandsons it has seen it all.
In our times of grace, to our worst mistakes it has always watched from its tower of dirt.
An eternal point in which we all know, and that we will never remember.
Because there was never a tree upon the hill, no leaves to wave at us with winds message of the day.
Eternity is forever, simply because eternity will never be, and that makes it all the better for only dullness can remain forever.
